SAVUNMA HARCAMALARI İLE EKONOMİK BÜYÜME ARASINDAKİ İLİŞKİNİN ANALİZİ: G8 ÖRNEĞİ

Abstract

Tarih boyunca devletler, toprak bütünlüklerini ve yaşadığı bölgedeki mevcudiyetini muhafaza etmek, içeriden vedışarıdan gelebilecek her türlü tehdit ve saldırıyı püskürtmek amacıyla savunma harcamalarına büyük önemvermiştir. Ülkelerin jeopolitik konumu, yapısal farklılığı, siyasi ve politik durumu sebebiyle savunmaharcamalarının düzeyi birbirinden farklılık göstermektedir. Bu nedenle literatürdeki araştırma sonuçlarıbirbirinden farklı çıkmakta olup savunma harcamaları ile ekonomik büyüme ilişkisi henüz bir netliğekavuşmamıştır. Bu araştırma, G8 ülkelerinde savunma harcamaları ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişkiyiincelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bu çerçevede, G8 ülkelerinin ekonomik büyüme ile savunma harcamalarının genelgörünümü değerlendirilmiştir. Dumitrescu-Hurlin Nedensellik Testi sonucuna göre, değişkenler arasındaherhangi bir nedensellik ilişkisi olmadığı saptanmıştır.

Throughout history, states have attached great importance to their defence expenditure in order to preserve their territorial integrity and presence in the region they live in and repel any threats and attacks that may come from inside and outside. The amount of expenditure dedicated defence of countries differs from each other due to their geopolitical position, structural difference, political and political situation. For this reason, the research results in the literature differ from each other, and the relationship between defence expenditures and economic growth has not been clarified yet. This study aims to examine the relationship between economic growth and defence expenditures in G8 countries. In this context, defence expenditures and economic growth of G8 countries are evaluated. According to Dumitrescu-Hurlin Causality Test, there was no causal relationship between the variables.
