GİRİŞİMCİLERİN FİNANSAL OKURYAZARLIK DÜZEYLERİNİN İŞLETME PERFORMANSLARI ÜZERİNDEKİ ETKİSİ

Abstract

Günümüz ekonomi anlayışının temelini şüphesiz ki finans faktörü oluşturmaktadır. Temel finans bilgisinin önemi, dünya genelinde olduğu gibi ülkemizde de her geçen gün artmaktadır. Yakın zamana kadar dünyayı sarmaya başlayan güncel ve yeni finansal kavramların içinde en önemlilerden biri finansal okuryazarlık kavramıdır. Finansal okuryazarlığa en çok ihtiyaç duyacağı düşünülen girişimcilerin, finansal okuryazarlık seviyelerinin tespiti bu çalışmanın motivasyonunu oluşturmaktadır. Ayrıca girişimcilerin işletme performanslarının da finansal okuryazarlık seviyelerinden etkileneceği düşünülmüştür. Bu doğrultuda bu çalışmanın amacı, Gaziantep ilinde faaliyet göstermekte olan iş yeri sahibi girişimcilerin finansal okuryazarlık düzeylerinin belirlenmesi ve finansal okuryazarlığın işletme performansları üzerinde etkisinin olup olmadığını incelemektir. Bu doğrultuda, Gaziantep ilinde faaliyet gösteren 206 iş yeri sahibi girişimciye finansal okuryazarlık ve işletme performans ölçeklerinden oluşan anket formu uygulanmıştır. Çalışmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre finansal okuryazarlık seviyesi işletme performansını anlamlı ve pozitif yönde etkilemektedir. Ayrıca bir diğer önemli bulgu da girişimcilerin finansal okuryazarlık seviyelerinin eğitim düzeylerinden bağımsız olduğudur.

Undoubtedly, the financial factor constitutes the basis of today's economic understanding. The importance of basic financial knowledge is increasing day by day in our country as well as in the world. One of the most important of the current and new financial concepts that has started to surround the world until recently is the concept of financial literacy. The determination of the financial literacy levels of entrepreneurs who are thought to need financial literacy the most is the motivation of this study. In addition, it is thought that the enterprise performance of entrepreneurs will be affected by their financial literacy levels. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to determine the financial literacy levels of entrepreneurs operating in Gaziantep and to examine whether financial literacy has an effect on their business performance. In this direction, a questionnaire consisting of financial literacy and business performance scales was applied to 206 business owners operating in Gaziantep. According to the findings obtained from the study, financial literacy level affects business performance significantly and positively. In addition, another important finding is that the financial literacy levels of entrepreneurs are not affected by their education level.
